A block of stone, lit from both ends.
When we drew GRANO, we kept returning to a specific kind of moment: standing in a Roman cloister at dusk, looking at a wall pierced by a single rectangular opening. The light coming through felt held by the stone, not added to it. The stone was the fixture.
GRANO is the smallest version of that idea. A solid block of yellow travertine, hand-cut into a rectangular column, lit from a single GU10 socket recessed near its base. The light washes down across the matte natural pores of the stone and up across the wall behind it. The fixture stays quiet. The wall does the talking.
The travertine is real, with the natural cavities and warm cream-to-ochre veining that no two pieces share. Small enough at 6.3 inches tall to live in a hallway, beside a bed, in a stairwell. Substantial enough at 1.9 lbs to feel permanent.
Hand-cut from a single block
The stone is cut from a single block of yellow travertine, then hand-shaped to its final dimensions. The pores are left open and unfilled. Over years the surface develops the patina that real travertine always does, deepening slightly where it is touched, never glossing over.
Inside the column sits a single GU10 socket, ready for a warm halogen or LED bulb (free dimmable bulb included). Hardwired into a standard junction box. No assembly required at install.
