OMBRA began with a problem that doesn't get enough attention: most flush-mount ceiling lights look like rejected hat options. We wanted a fixture that sits quietly against a ceiling and reads like a piece of furniture, not a utility. A shallow dome of solid wood, with a single opal globe set into its underside. Looking up at it is closer to looking at a small wooden bowl turned upside down than to looking at a fixture.
The proportions are deliberately modest: 12 inches across, 4 inches deep. Big enough to hold a room. Small enough to disappear into a hallway.
Solid wood, hand-turned
The dome is turned from a single piece of European wood, dark walnut or light oak. The grain runs the full curve, no veneer. The interior is sanded smooth so it reflects the opal globe softly.
The globe is hand-blown opal glass, the same kind we use in HALO. Light bleeds evenly through its full surface, no hotspots.
Standard ceiling install
Mounts to any standard junction box. E26 socket accepts standard bulbs. Damp-rated for kitchens and baths. Works with a standard wall dimmer.
