  • Cased glass in three library colors. The shade is two layers of glass fused around a colored core. Pick Emerald Green for the classic library look, Volcano Black for a modern office or Silver White for the brightest glow.
  • A brass pull chain with an acorn weight. The plated brass stand carries a mechanical pull chain ending in a small brass acorn, and the cord adds an inline switch.

The light that built every library worth visiting.

When we drew BANCO No.01, we were not trying to reinvent anything. The form is older than us. The brass stand, the rectangular curved glass shade, the small pull-chain hanging from the socket. It has lived on the desks of New York accountants, Florentine notaries, and Roman magistrates for more than a century. The curve of the green glass was designed to ease the eyes of bookkeepers working under gas light.

We made BANCO honest. The shade is real cased glass, hand-pressed and finished by polishing. The base is solid brass plated to a warm gold, the kind that wears in rather than out. The pull chain ends in a small brass acorn. Every detail of the original is there. Nothing modernized.

Cased glass, plated brass, single bulb

The shade is two layers of glass fused around a colored core: emerald green, black, or white. Each one is hand-finished, slightly different at the edge. The brass stand is cast in three pieces and assembled by hand. The chain switch is mechanical: no electronics, no remote, no app.

One E26/E27 socket inside the shade. A free dimmable A19 LED bulb (40–60W equivalent) is included.

Plugs into any standard US outlet. 120V. Cord with inline switch. Sized at 15 inches tall and 10.4 inches wide.
