A full moon, two inches off the ceiling.
When we designed LUNA No.05, we kept returning to the same drawing. A pale disc, set close against a flat plane. Roman ceilings have done this for centuries with stucco roses. Post-war Italian architects pared it down: a ring, a glow, no ornament. We pared further.
LUNA No.05 is the flattest piece in the AvaLuce stone collection. The travertine ring is 2.2 inches deep. The central diffuser is a slab of precision-machined acrylic, lit by an integrated LED running its full circumference. From across a room, it reads as light. From below, you see the stone.

Quarried in Tivoli, lit from within
The travertine ring is carved from a single block per fixture. Beige texture, natural pitting, the open cells of stone that has held its own for centuries. We do not fill them. We do not polish them flat.
The LED is integrated and non-replaceable. Rated for 50,000 hours: about twenty years of evening use. 3000K warm white, the same color as a candle at full draft. Dimmable on a standard wall dimmer.
Mount it where most fixtures cannot follow
Wires into any standard junction box. Damp-rated (IP44) for bathrooms, kitchens, covered porches, and rooms where humidity rises.
The smallest size disappears into a corridor ceiling. The largest holds its own above a dining table.
