When we worked on COMETA, we were thinking about the small Italian hotel corridors that get their light from one or two sconces per landing, never more. Each one a tall vertical stroke of warm glass against a plaster wall. The fixtures are quiet, the rooms are full of light.
COMETA is built on that principle. Two opal-glass capsules stacked vertically, divided by a slim metal collar, mounted to a small round backplate. Thirteen inches tall, three and a third wide. The proportions are deliberate, the silhouette never crowds the wall.
Three finishes for the collar and backplate: polished chrome, brushed brass, matte black. The glass is always opal, the glow is always the same.
Hand-blown opal glass, machined collar
Each capsule is blown by hand into an opal-white glass mold, then annealed for clarity. The opal gives a milky diffusion without ever feeling foggy. Two bulbs sit inside, one in each capsule, lighting independently.
The collar is machined steel, finished in chrome, brass, or black. We picked materials that look right next to themselves at scale.
Built for the wall beside a mirror, headboard, or hallway
