Why you'll love the PERLA No.01

  • A glass pearl set in raw travertine. A mouth-blown opal globe sits in a corner recess of a raw-cut travertine block. The stone is polished only on its face, so the pores and veining change from piece to piece.
  • Low profile for halls and powder rooms. It stands 8.7 inches tall and projects 3.9 inches, close enough to the wall for your vanity or a stair landing. It can also surface-mount on a ceiling.
  • Damp-rated for the bath wall. It suits bathroom and powder room walls outside the direct spray zone, and it can also mount on a ceiling.
  • Pearl-soft glow, free G9 bulb included. It hardwires to a standard junction box at 120V and works with a standard wall dimmer. A free dimmable G9 bulb ships with it, softened by the opal glass.

The Italian word for pearl is perla. In the PERLA No.01, a small mouth-blown opal globe is cradled at the corner of a raw travertine block, like a pearl caught in stone. The sensibility traces back to the wabi-sabi tradition that the post-war Italian designers carried forward, where rough material and small refined form are placed against each other and the imperfection is left to read.

Each block is hand-cut from a Tivoli quarry stone and left with the asymmetric profile of the raw cut, then face-polished only where the eye lands. The pores stay visible across the surface, and the veining shifts piece to piece. A small recess at one corner cradles the opal globe, mouth-blown in Italian glass, set just proud of the stone. Inside the globe, a G9 source throws warm light radially. The glass softens the source into a pearl-like glow that picks up the stone texture without glare.

Sized at 8.7 in tall (22 cm), about 5.5 in wide (14 cm), and 3.9 in deep from the wall (10 cm). Small enough for a vanity flank, large enough for a stair wall or hallway. Runs on a single G9 socket, dimmable with a standard wall dimmer, 120V. Damp-rated for indirect humidity, well-suited to bathroom and powder room walls outside the direct spray zone. Can also surface-mount as a ceiling fixture when the project calls for it. Hardwires to a standard junction box in about thirty minutes.

Pairs naturally with the NIDO No.02 alabaster sconce when you want two takes on the cradled-stone idea on adjacent walls. Works as well with the OLIVA No.01 alabaster wall sconce in a primary bath, or the VERTIN No.05 mini travertine flush mount in the connecting hall. Hung in pairs, the asymmetric block reads more sculptural than symmetrical when offset slightly above and below the eye line.
