Among the post-war Italian designers, Vico Magistretti kept reaching for the circle. The TONDO No.02 takes the same hand and turns it into stone. A cream travertine ring hangs from a walnut sphere, hollow at the center, with a hidden LED band glowing downward from inside the halo. Read in silhouette, it sits between Roman quiet and the wabi-sabi of an aged temple bell.
The travertine is hand-cut from a Tivoli quarry block, drilled hollow, then face-polished to a low matte that leaves the natural pores readable across the rim. No two rings share the same veining. The LED band is recessed inside the inner edge of the ring, throwing a warm 3000K downlight that grazes the stone before it reaches the table. The walnut canopy ball is turned from European stock and oiled by hand to a warm low sheen.
Sized for a dining table, an entry hall, or a kitchen island. Single ring comes in 11.8 in (30 cm) or 15.7 in (40 cm). Linear configurations cluster two or three rings on a shared canopy bar, spanning up to 39 in (100 cm) across a long table. Cord is adjustable up to 59 in (150 cm). Integrated LED runs at 120V, with a 50,000-hour rated life. The canopy seats flush on a standard 4 in junction box and handles ceiling slopes to 30 degrees. Install runs about thirty minutes with a licensed electrician.
