Cream or Volcano Black, both on walnut. Each body is turned from a single block of travertine and seated on a solid walnut collar, so its grain, pores and tone are its own.

VERTIN is built for the rooms most ceiling lights ignore. The eight-foot apartment. The narrow hallway between bedrooms. The entry where a chandelier would scrape the door on the way in. It sits 4 inches tall and 4¾ inches across, and turns those spaces into rooms that feel designed, not endured.

Solid travertine. A solid walnut collar.

The body is turned from a single block of Italian travertine, the same warm Mediterranean stone Roman bathhouses were lined with and Carlo Scarpa worked into the Brion tomb. Each piece carries its own grain pattern, its own micro-pores, its own slight shift in tone. The collar at its base is solid European walnut, kiln-dried and hand-oiled. Together they read like a small sculpture you happen to be lit by.

Built for the spaces a pendant cannot live.

VERTIN was designed around three failures of standard ceiling fixtures. Builder-grade flush mounts look industrial. Pendants need clearance most homes do not have. Recessed cans flatten a room and leave it feeling clinical. A few places VERTIN does the job better than any of them:

One E26 socket. Any LED A19 bulb up to 40W equivalent (2700K warm or 3000K soft white reads best on the stone). Surface-mounts to a standard US junction box in about fifteen minutes. Wired for standard 120V US circuits.
