When we designed LUNA No.06, we kept returning to the small carved stones we have seen in old Tivoli courtyards: a half-sphere cut from a single piece of travertine, weathered on the inside, holding a small light at the center. We translated the gesture into a flush mount that hangs almost directly from the ceiling.
The dome is hand-cut from raw beige travertine, with the natural veining and small pores left visible. A turned wood canopy sits flush against the ceiling, holding the stone dome forward and cradling an opal glass globe inside. The opal globe is what you see lit; the stone reads as a quiet shell around it.
Two sizes for the scale of the room: 6 inch for a small hallway or bathroom, 9 inch for a bedroom or living space. Two wood finishes: light or dark.
Real travertine, real wood, hand-blown opal
Each travertine dome is cut from a single block of stone. The veining is unique to each piece. The canopy is solid wood, turned and sealed, in light oak or dark walnut tone. The opal globe is hand-blown, replaceable, sitting in a felt-lined cradle.
The fixture is damp-rated. Rated for bathrooms and covered exteriors.
