Why you'll love the ALABA No.06

  • Alabaster thin enough to glow through. Each shade is hand-carved from one block, with walls about ⅛ inch thick. Switch it on and the grain lights up from inside, in a pattern no other shade shares.
  • Ziggurat tiers or a stepped cylinder. Both silhouettes are 7.1 inches across. Tiered stacks up into a 7.1-inch ziggurat, while Stepped Cylinder rises 8.7 inches with a soft stepped rim.
  • Made to hang beside the bed. The black fabric cord is 59 inches and adjustable, for pitched ceilings up to 30 degrees. Hang a pair either side of a bed or down a hallway.
  • Dimmable, with an E14 bulb included. You get a free dimmable E14 bulb with it. It hardwires to a standard U.S. junction box at 120V and works with a standard wall dimmer.

One block of alabaster, carved twice.

When we drew ALABA No.06, we kept coming back to the small votive niches in old Tuscan churches. A single block of cream alabaster, lit from inside, glowing through its own grain. We wanted that effect at pendant scale, mounted on a black cord rather than set in plaster.

ALABA No.06 is offered in two silhouettes: a stacked-tier ziggurat (Conique) and a soft cylinder with a stepped rim (Circulaire). Both are 7 inches across, both glow through the stone, both finish with a simple black cord and matching canopy.

The alabaster is always alabaster. The veining is selected before cutting.

Carved by hand from a single block

Each shade is bored from one alabaster block. The walls are finished to a ⅛-inch (4 mm) thickness, thin enough to transmit warm light, thick enough to ring softly when tapped. The hand-tool marks are left visible on the interior.

No two shades share the same vein pattern. The grain runs in whatever direction the block came in.

Built for a bedside, vanity, or hallway

Single E14 socket, dimmable with a standard wall dimmer. Adjustable 59-inch black cord, suitable for pitched ceilings up to 30 degrees. Standard US canopy.

Reads best in pairs. The stone glows the same way twice, never identically.
