A terrazzo cone hung from a wood bead.
MOLO began with a photograph of an old Italian seawall built in the 1950s from terrazzo cast in place. The aggregate composition reads almost like a constellation: shards of marble suspended in pale binder. We translated that geometry into a pendant. A tapered cone of terrazzo, capped with a small bead of solid walnut, hung from a black cable.
The cone focuses light downward. The interior is hollowed and finished smooth so the aggregate reads from the side. Looking up at MOLO, you see a constellation lit from within.
Real terrazzo, hand-cast and ground
Terrazzo is not a print. Each cone is hand-cast with real marble chips set in a pale binder, then ground and polished. The pattern is unique per piece, never repeating. The walnut bead is hand-turned, the cable braided cotton.
Available in Gray Terrazzo with subtle inclusions, the kind that reads as restrained from a distance and detailed up close.
