Why you'll love the TESSERA No.01

  • Stained glass mosaic, glowing cell by cell. The shade is built from hand-cut glass squares set in a soldered grid. Light passes through each cell a little differently, like a small stained glass window on your wall.
  • Aegean Blue, Amber Orange or Clear Crystal. Choose deep blue for a library wall, amber for a wood-paneled entry, or clear for the pattern without the color. The sconce is 12 inches tall and 6¾ inches wide on a curved mirror-chrome arm.
  • Wires and dims like any U.S. sconce. The chrome arm mounts over a standard U.S. junction box at 120V, and the sconce dims with a standard wall dimmer. A free dimmable E14 candelabra bulb ships with it.
  • Rated for damp bathrooms. The sconce is damp-rated for bathrooms and covered entries, and the glass won't fog or yellow.

Mosaic glass on a chrome arm.

When we designed TESSERA, we kept returning to the small mosaic glass panels we have seen in old chapel windows and Tiffany-era lampshades: a grid of cut glass squares set in lead, light passing through each one a different color, the whole shade reading as a stained window rather than a single object. We translated the gesture into a wall sconce and held to the original construction method.

The shade is hand-assembled from cut glass squares, set into a soldered lead grid. The arm is a single piece of precision metal, finished in chrome mirror, curved upward to hold the shade twelve inches off the wall. Twelve inches tall total.

Three colorways: deep Aegean Blue for a quiet library wall, warm Amber Orange for an entryway with timber, Clear Crystal for the room that wants the pattern without the color.

Cut glass, leaded grid, chrome arm

Each shade is hand-cut and hand-soldered. The lead lines that hold the glass together are real lead, not printed grids on plastic. The chrome arm is a single piece of solid metal finished to a true mirror.

The shade is damp-rated. Rated for bathrooms and covered exteriors. The mosaic glass will not fog or yellow with humidity.

Made for reading walls, bedside, and small entries

E14 socket, up to 15W max LED equivalent, dimmable with a standard wall dimmer. Free dimmable bulb included. Hardwires into any standard junction box.

One window of cut glass, one curve of chrome. Hung alone, it stops a quiet room.
