When we designed TARO No.02, we kept thinking about hotel reception desks from the 1960s, the kind where a single solid brass lamp anchored the corner of a leather-topped sideboard. The brass was honest. The accents were small. The light was warm enough to read by and quiet enough to ignore.
The base is solid brass, machined and finished by hand. A walnut accent runs through the center of the stem, a small detail that warms the metal without changing what the lamp is. The shade is hand-blown amber glass, thick enough to filter the integrated LED into a soft amber pool.

Brass that won't lacquer-flake
Solid brass, not brass-plate. The finish is left living so it warms over time without the brittle lacquer that flakes off cheaper fixtures. The walnut accent is solid wood, hand-oiled. The amber glass is mouth-blown with thick walls.
Low-consumption integrated LED, 7W. No bulb to replace.
