Why you'll love the ANIMA No.01

  • The look of rippled plaster, in resin. Concentric waves are cast into the resin itself, so they throw soft shadows across the antique-white disc. You get the look of old plaster relief without cracks or touch-ups.
  • One small glow at the center. An opal glass globe at the heart of the ripples turns the bulb into a candle-warm point of light. At 8.7 inches across, it suits a stairwell or either side of a doorway, indoors only.
  • Hardwire it or plug it in. It wires to a standard U.S. junction box at 120V, or runs from an outlet with the optional plug kit. A free dimmable G9 bulb is included, and it works with a standard wall dimmer.

Old plaster, with modern wiring.

When we designed ANIMA, we were looking at the rippled plaster reliefs in Roman antechambers. The way concentric circles cast different shadows at different hours. We wanted that effect without the maintenance: real plaster cracks, fades, requires touch-up. We tested in resin instead.

The result is a sculptural disc with antique-textured surface ripples, cast in solid premium resin. At its center, a small opal globe diffuses a single bulb. From across the room, you see one quiet point of glow on a textured wall. Up close, you see the waves.

The piece is small (8.7 inches across). Plug-in or hardwired, depending on the room.

Cast resin, real waves

The concentric texture is cast into the resin itself, not stamped onto a flat face. Each disc holds the same wave pattern but catches light a little differently depending on the angle.

The opal globe at the center is real blown glass. It diffuses the bulb into a candle-warm glow. The contrast between rippled white texture and a small white sphere is intentional.
