Why you'll love the CORA No.02

  • Fluted porcelain that casts a sunburst. Fine flutes are scored into the cone before firing, so every ridge catches the light. Lit, the shade glows brighter at its edges and throws a soft sunburst onto the ceiling.
  • Cream glaze under a knurled brass cap. The cream porcelain looks warm by day and golden when lit. The solid brass cap, with its small knurled collar, is left unlacquered to deepen with age.
  • Sized for a table for two. At 8.7 in across and 6.3 in tall, one cone hangs over a small kitchen table or a reading corner. Use a pair above a dining table.
  • Ready for your ceiling box and dimmer. Turn it down for dinner with a standard wall dimmer. It hardwires to a standard U.S. junction box at 120V, and a free dimmable E26 bulb ships with it.

The fold of a folded paper, fired in porcelain.

CORA No.02 is the cone in our scalloped family. We were thinking about origami, then about the pleated coral shells you find in Sicilian markets. The shade is a cone of porcelain, finely fluted around its circumference, finished in a soft cream glaze that reads warm in the day and golden under the lamp.

The brass cap is solid, with a small retro knurled collar that recalls the molette of vintage Italian hardware. A twisted-textile cord runs from canopy to socket. Nothing on this pendant pretends.

Sized at 8.7 inches across, CORA No.02 reads well alone over a small kitchen table or in a pair over a dining table for two.

Fluted by hand, never identical

The porcelain is thrown, then the flutes are scored by hand before firing. The pleating catches light at every ridge, so the cone is darker at its center and brighter at its edges. The shadow it casts on a ceiling is a soft sunburst.

The brass is solid, unlacquered, with the molette knurling left raw. It will deepen in tone over the years. We do not polish it. We do not treat it. We let it darken the way real brass should.

Built for kitchens and corners

Wired into any standard ceiling junction box. Cord 59 in, adjustable on-site. E26/E27 socket, free dimmable bulb included. 120V. Best in pairs above a dining table, or alone above a reading nook.

One cone. Many flutes. Made to glow softly in the smaller rooms.
