A small box of stone, holding light.
When we drew CUBA, we kept returning to a single object: a small carved stone reliquary, hollowed inside, holding a single object. CUBA holds that gesture in light. A 6-inch cube of natural travertine, hand-carved with a circular opening on each of its five visible faces, framing a single opaline glass sphere set at its center.
The result is graphic. From any angle, the room sees stone, an arched opening, and a quiet moon inside. From below, the globe shows fully. From the side, half-stone half-light.
Mountable as a flush ceiling fixture or as a wall sconce.
Real travertine, real opal
The cube is hand-carved from a single block of Tivoli travertine. Each one is its own object. The circular openings are cut by hand, slightly different each time.
The globe is mouth-blown from premium opaline glass. The canopy is solid walnut. Damp-rated.
