A small stone, lit from within.
When we designed TIBER, we kept returning to a single idea: a single piece of veined stone, no larger than a saucer, hanging quietly from the ceiling. The kind of object you might find on the desk of a Roman antiquarian. The kind of shape Carlo Scarpa would have approved of, suspended over a marble basin.
TIBER is built around that gesture. A compact saucer of natural marbled stone (5.9 inches across), bonded to a slim stem in pearl-black steel, lit from within by a warm integrated LED. Small enough to live alone above a nightstand. Quiet enough that you forget it is there, until it turns on.
The stone is sliced thin and selected for the depth of its veins. Every piece is its own geology, so no two TIBERs are identical.
Selected slab by slab
The body is cut from a natural veined stone. We rejected pieces with weak figuration and kept the slabs where black ran through cream like ink through water. The translucency is real: when the LED is on, the veins glow.
The stem and canopy are machined from steel and finished in a deep pearl-black lacquer. Not chrome, not raw matte. Closer to gun-metal, with the slight warmth of a polished river stone.
