Why you'll love the MELI No.04

  • Pleats that catch the light. Each ceramic shade is thrown on a wheel, then pleated by hand while the clay is soft. Lit, the crests glow and the valleys hold shadow under a matte cream glaze.
  • Compact enough to hang in threes. At 9.6 in across and 5.1 in tall, it hangs alone over an island, as a pair at each end of a long table, or as three over a banquette.
  • Hardwired, dimmable, with a free bulb. It mounts to a standard U.S. junction box at 120V and dims with a standard wall dimmer. A free dimmable E26 bulb comes in the box.
  • Set the drop on site. The 59 in cord adjusts to your height when you install it, and the canopy works on ceilings sloped up to thirty degrees. Its matte black finish disappears overhead.

A small pendant that holds the room without raising its voice.

MELI No.04 was thrown on a wheel and pleated by hand. The folds catch light along their crests and pool shadow in the valleys, so the shade reads as carved rather than glazed. We kept the silhouette compact at just under ten inches across. A pendant for the rooms that already have enough going on.

Two glazes only, both matte: a cream that recedes against plaster walls, and a warm brown that lands close to terracotta. The ceramic itself is left slightly textured under the glaze, the way old Mediterranean dishware was finished.

Hangs alone over a kitchen island, in pairs at either end of a long table, or in a small cluster of three off-center over a banquette.

Thrown by hand, pleated while still wet

Each shade is shaped on a wheel in our atelier, pleated while the clay is still soft, and fired in two passes. The matte glaze is applied by hand, so the surface holds slight variation across the folds.

The hardware is matte black metal, kept quiet so it disappears against the ceiling. Standard E26 socket accepts any bulb up to 40W incandescent equivalent. Cord is 59 in (150 cm) and adjustable on site.

Built for kitchens, banquettes, and considered corners

Hardwires into any standard junction box. Compatible with sloped ceilings up to thirty degrees and a standard wall dimmer.

Two glazes. Two ways to hang it. One quiet shade.
