When we designed RAVENNA, we kept returning to a memory of basket-makers we visited on the Adriatic coast. Three women at a low table, one warp and one weft and a bulb between them, and the way a single light bulb sitting inside a tight jute weave casts shadows that are graphic, generous, alive in a way no glass diffuser can match.
RAVENNA brings that quality onto the wall. A cylindrical drum in natural jute, hand-woven tight enough to hold its shape and loose enough to throw the bulb's warmth across the wall in fine vertical bands. Two horizontal belts of denser weave hold the form steady. The whole thing reads as a soft, textured column of light.

Hand-woven from natural jute
The fiber is jute, raw and undyed, woven over a hidden steel frame in a small workshop in Tunisia. Each band of weave is tightened by hand. The slight irregularities in the spacing are deliberate, the visible signature of a piece made one at a time.
The frame holds a single E26/E27 socket, ready for any warm LED or halogen bulb you choose. Free dimmable bulb included. Hardwired to a standard junction box, dimmable with a standard wall dimmer.
