  • Brushwork you can see up close. Each bell is glazed white, then hand-painted around the rim in vertical strokes of color. The lines sit slightly off-register, with the glaze pooling where the brush lifts.

Painted by hand, never identical.

The pattern on MELI No.05 is brushwork. Each shade is glazed white, then a painter sits and works the rim with a small brush, pulling vertical strokes in indigo, ochre, terracotta, sometimes a thin line of black. It is the same vocabulary you see on the lip of a Sicilian water jug or the inside of a Portuguese bowl. Slightly off-register. Always.

The ceramic is bell-shaped, 7.1 inches across at the widest, hung from a small machined brass socket and a twisted fabric cord in the old Italian way. The cord stays warm even in a kitchen of cold metal and stone.

Six motifs to choose from: Indigo Floral, Ribbed Earth, Indigo Canvas, Mariner Stripe, Ocean Splash, and Azure Eden. Pick one, or hang three different motifs over the same counter.

Real ceramic, real brushwork

Each shade is wheel-thrown or slip-cast, then glazed and hand-painted. The painters are working from a pattern, not tracing it. Brush thickness, glaze pooling, the slight wobble where a stroke lifts away from the rim, none of it is hidden. That is the point.

The socket is solid brass. The cord is twisted fabric, 70 inches long, adjustable by knot on installation. Standard E26/E27 fits any A19 LED up to 60W equivalent.
