Why you'll love the NIVE No.01

  • Ice-textured resin, lit from behind. The dome is cast resin with a crushed-ice texture through its full thickness. From below it looks like light through frozen water, and from the side you see the texture itself.
  • Enough light for a whole living room. The 52W integrated LED in 3000K warm white lights a room of about 200 sq ft. At 18.9 in across and 3.9 in deep, it also suits a primary bath.
  • Walnut Brown or Matte Black ring. A metal ring in Walnut Brown warms the ice texture, while Matte Black gives graphic contrast. It mounts on a ceiling or works as a wall light.
  • Damp-rated and dimmable, nothing to replace. It hardwires to a standard U.S. junction box at 120V and dims with a standard wall dimmer. Damp-rated to IP44, it suits bathrooms, kitchens and covered porches.

Frozen water, lit from behind.

When we designed NIVE, we wanted the optical effect of broken ice without the maintenance. We kept returning to old Italian mountain hotels: small ceiling fixtures with thick textured crystal lenses that lit a whole entry hall with one bulb. The texture was the point. Light reading through irregularities is more interesting than light reading through a perfect plane.

The dome is high-grade resin with a crushed-ice texture cast into its full thickness. The metal ring around it is finished in either deep Walnut Brown or matte Black. The LED is integrated, hidden behind the dome, rated 52 watts and 50,000 hours.

Cast resin, integrated LED

The crystal effect is real depth, not a printed surface. The resin is cast in layers, with the ice texture built into the full thickness of the dome. Every fixture catches light a little differently.

The LED is sized for a real ceiling, not a marketing spec. 52 watts, 3000K warm white. Enough to light a 200-square-foot room comfortably. Non-replaceable, but rated for about twenty years of evening use.
