The cordless mushroom, made small.

When we drew PADOVA, we kept returning to the small portable lamps Gio Ponti drafted for hotel bedside tables in the 1950s. The brief was always the same: a single fixture that gave warm light without dominating the room. That brief still works. We made it cordless, kept it modest, and gave it a body in brushed aluminum the way midcentury Italian lamps wore brass.

PADOVA is 7.9 inches tall, with a 5.7-inch top disc that catches the bulb's warmth and reflects it back down onto the table. Three finishes: brushed silver for the cool rooms, matte black for graphic contrast, warm brown for the tables that already lean toward wood.

Compact enough to live on a bedside, on a console, between two place settings at a long dinner.

Brushed aluminum, kept honest

The body is brushed aluminum, hand-finished. Slight tooling marks remain visible at close range. The metal has a small weight to it, the way good cordless lamps should. No plastic shell, no painted veneer.

A lithium battery charges over USB, providing hours of warm light per charge. The touch surface on top wakes the lamp, holds the dimmer, and remembers the last setting. No buttons. No switch.

Made to travel inside the home
