Some lights are loud. CAPRI murmurs.
When we drew CAPRI, we kept returning to the dining rooms of small Italian seaside houses. The kind of room where the table is half-set, the windows are open, and the only fixture is a single ceramic shade hand-painted decades ago by someone the family no longer remembers. Anonymous, decorative, deeply local. We wanted that register.
CAPRI is a ceramic scallop pendant in glazed white porcelain, finished by hand with a brown rim and small painted motifs scattered across the shade. The silhouette is a wide, soft umbrella, edges curling outward in a continuous wave. Suspended from a twisted brown cord, capped with a small brass collar at the canopy.
Two sizes: Capeline at 8.5 inches across for a single nook, Marquise at 11.6 inches for a dining table or kitchen island. Both keep the same drape and proportion.
Glazed by hand, painted by hand
The shade is slip-cast in porcelain, then glazed white in a single coat that catches the light along every curve. Each scallop edge is hand-trimmed before the glaze fires, so the wave reads as soft rather than mechanical. The brown rim and floral motifs are brushed on after the first firing, then fixed under a second clear glaze.
Porcelain doesn't pretend to be marble. It rings when you tap it. It chips along the rim if you handle it carelessly. We accept that and design around it. The painted ribbon at the edge protects the curve and gives the shade its visual line.
Built to hang anywhere with a hook
Single E26 socket, dimmable with a standard wall dimmer. Adjustable 59-inch twisted cord, suitable for vaulted ceilings up to 30 degrees of pitch. Hardwired to a standard US junction box via the included canopy.
Sold individually. Most kitchens call for two over the island.
