A single ceramic petal, opening over the table.
When we designed ALBA, we kept returning to the small ceramic objects you find on the workbench of an old Italian potter. A bowl pressed too thin, the rim left a little wavy. The flaw becomes the form. Held up to a window, it reads as the soft edge of a petal more than a piece of dinnerware.
ALBA takes that gesture and hangs it from the ceiling. A nine-inch ceramic shade, glazed in a fluid white, with the rim left in a hand-shaped wave. The socket and canopy are solid copper, lacquered to keep their tone. A twisted cloth cord in the same warm copper tone runs to the ceiling.
Hung alone, ALBA reads as a small ceramic object floating above the table. Hung in a pair above a bathroom vanity or a low island, the wave catches the light differently on each side.
Pressed in white ceramic, finished in real copper
The shade is hand-pressed in premium ceramic and finished in a soft enameled white. The wave around the rim is shaped before firing, then settles slightly in the kiln. No two are identical and that is the point.
The socket and canopy are solid copper, not copper-plated steel. Copper warms with time the way brass does, and the lacquer slows that without stopping it. After a few years the metal moves toward the color of old bookbindings.
Made for kitchens, bathrooms, and bedside
Standard socket with a free dimmable bulb included. Dimmable with a standard wall dimmer. Cord is fifty-nine inches, in a braided cloth sleeve, adjustable on install. Lights a zone of about 55 to 110 square feet per fixture.
One ceramic petal, hung from copper. Most kitchens want two.
