When we drew GENOVA, we kept thinking about the small wall niches cut into the courtyards of Ligurian palazzi. Each one a recess in the stone, holding a single small lamp. Asymmetric, never repeating, always quiet.

GENOVA is a solid block of natural travertine, 7.1 inches tall and 3.9 inches wide. One side is open in an asymmetric cut that cradles an opal glass globe. Mount it vertically and the globe sits high. Mount it horizontally and the globe sits on the side. Same fixture, two readings.

The travertine is honest, with visible pores and grain. No two pieces are identical. The opal globe diffuses the bulb into a soft round glow that reads against the stone.

Body is natural massive travertine, hand-finished. The opal glass globe sits in the asymmetric notch and softens the bulb into a glare-free round pool. Lights an area of roughly 110–160 sq ft in warm ambient light.
