An amber glass bell, lit from within.
AMBRA No.01 began in a hotel lobby, at the hour when the sun goes down behind the palms and the reception desk turns gold. A single lamp stood on the stone counter: a bell of amber glass, a thin brass rod running through its center, and a small brass disc floating inside the glass where the light comes from. We wanted that object for the home.
The amber tint does the work. Lit, the glass warms the whole room by a few degrees of color, the way candlelight does. Unlit, it reads as a piece of tinted glassware on a brass stand. The rod passes straight through the bell, so the lamp looks drawn rather than assembled.
Amber glass, brushed brass finish
The shade is smoked amber glass, open at the bottom so the light falls in a soft pool onto the table. The stem, the disc head and the round weighted base are metal in a brushed brass finish. The integrated LED sits inside the brass disc, out of sight, and gives a warm white glow with no visible bulb.
Two sizes. Small: 7.1 in (18 cm) glass, 16.9 in (43 cm) tall, 5.9 in (15 cm) base. Sized for a nightstand or a narrow console. Large: 9.4 in (24 cm) glass, 20.9 in (53 cm) tall, 7.1 in (18 cm) base. Sized for a sideboard, an entry table or a reception desk.
